The Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT) is an international organization of locally-based organizations providing support, inspiration, information and networking opportunities to women and men who are interested in, or involved in the international trade community. Members of the Alberta Chapter are part of a growing worldwide network of professionals whose involvement in OWIT enhances their knowledge of current global trade issues, provides a global network of contacts, and professional development opportunities. 

Our new website, launched in December of 2007, allows us to better connect OWIT Alberta members in order to expand and enhance their professional and personal lives. We are now able to offer: an online searchable member directory; online event registration and member renewals; more timely email communications;  a member-only section of the website with access to resources, publications and links; and much more.

Attend the 2008 OWIT International conference

The Monterrey Chapter of OWIT is proud to be hosting the next OWIT international conference in Monterrey, Mexico from October 22-24, 2008. The conference will bring together delegates from OWIT’s growing global chapter network and members of the international trade community. The theme this year is Trade and the Triple Bottom Line: Societal, Economic, and Environmental Sustainability.

Historically, business has focused only on the financial bottom line; however, over the last twenty years, global awareness of the need to assess the full spectrum of corporate value has grown dramatically, and ‘total returns’ on capital—economic, social, or environmental—are now being tracked with increasing regularity.

OWIT’s 2008 conference will explore how these three elements are impacting international trade and how you can position your organization most effectively in order to succeed in this new global environment. To register www.owit.org.

Join our upcoming trade mission to Mexico

The Canadian chapters of the Organization of Women in International Trade (OWIT-Toronto and OWIT-Alberta) are planning a trade mission to Mexico this fall to coincide with OWIT’s Annual World Conference.  This is an excellent opportunity for Canadian companies to visit the city of Monterrey - the industrial, financial and economic engine of Mexico - and build business across borders.
