October 2011 - OWIT ALBERTA IS LOOKING FOR PEOPLE!


Want an international career?  Do you want to create a reputation as a well-connected international business professional in Alberta? Do you want to build exposure and credibility with internationally focused companies?

OWIT Alberta is currently accepting applications for several unpaid staff positions within this dynamic organization – the hub for all things international business in Alberta.

OWIT Alberta has a busy year and a big vision ahead of it.  This will include prestigious events, corporate relationship building, international partnership expansion, expanding the membership base and cementing the foundation of OWIT as Alberta’s International Business hub.

Summary of Open Positions:

o        Director of Membership Development

o        Director of Communications and Marketing

o        Director of Corporate Relationships

o        Director of Programming (2 positions, Edmonton and Calgary)

o        Manager of Virtual Presence (reports to Director of Communications and Marketing)

All positions have a term of 1 year, renewable upon agreement of the Board of Directors.  Time commitment is 5 hours per week.


OWIT is also looking for a new Treasurer for a position on the board of advisers.



January 2011

OWIT would like to inform the members that as of January 1st, 2011, OWIT has changed membership to a rolling structure from a fixed date structure.  Previously, your membership would be pro-rated depending on the month you joined, with all memberships expiring in January. 

If you choose to re-join OWIT this year (and why wouldn't you with all of the exciting events coming up!?), your membership will be valid for a full 12 months and will renew in the month you joined.  Individual memberships will continue to be $75, student memberships $25 and corporate memberships $150.

December 2010

The new board is pleased to announce our new format for networking events in the 2011 year: tradeXchange.  Check out this new format under the events page!  Other learning events and social activities will take place over the next year, as we aim to add tangible value, specific to international trade.

OWIT Alberta appoints a new President, Krista Chase, and two other board members, Sue McDonald, VP and International Representative, and Susan Webber, Director-at-large.
